I found a guy that has the older 2000 version needs battery exhaust fuel filter other bus stuff and wants 1000 2400 hrs oh yea its diesel would y'all but it? Really don't need it.

OK I will. Not sure what to do with it. Its the early 2000 model looks almost like the workmaster tins sstraight even bumper is straight.

Wonder what I could sell it for all cleaned up painted etc

Just a WAG, but if a worn out 8N with a DuPont overhaul is worth $2K, IMO a sound and sharp looking 2000 diesel should be worth $4K.

A 2000 should have '60s amenities like power steering and live PTO which are sorely lacking in a 8N.

I would take the hours showing on the tach with a grain of salt. Considering the rare impossibility the thing has worked for the whole life of the tractor, then it probably has turned over at least once. :P

Tach on our 8N showed 8K+ hours and never worked since at least 1968!

Hope it's not a grey tractor. I had a Ford 3000 that turned out to be grey and couldn;t get parts anywhere to keep it running

That looks like a Fordson Dexta. I learned to drive on a tractor just like that and put many hours on it. Depends on the condition, but I saw a pretty nice one bring $1500 at auction last year. The one my dad had, the engine was powerful and very few problems, but the brakes, steering, lack of the ability to put hydraulic hookups on it wasn't good.

A good little utility tractor, but get rid of that generator. Pretty sure it's a Lucas (The Prince of Darkness).
Retail price when new--about $5K depending whether it was made before 1965 or later than '65.
If it's 4cyl diesel, it was made 62-64 and 36hp--power steering was optional.
After that 1965-1975 will have a 3 cyl diesel.

Thanks for all the info. I was wondering about the generator we have some local rebuilders that can rebuild them do you think rebuilding it would be worth it?

Yes, that 2000 looks like a rebadged Dagenham England built Dexta. Baby brother to the Major.

Rebuilding the "Prince of Darkness" generator is worth it IF the rebuilder can get parts. I would convert to an alternator if you don't care about originality. I'd worry more about getting parts for the Lucas starter.

More than likely I will probably clean her up paint her real good and stick a forsale sign on her. The tractor has straight tin on it so probably wasn't abused. I like the old thing I love old tractors ... The ones I can get parts for.

Not sure what shade of blue your 2000 should have if you car about the correctness of the paint job. If the tractor was a Dexta or Major, I'm pretty sure it would be a darker shade of blue than regular Ford blue along with red wheels.

Someone on the Ford or Fordson boards at ytmag should know for certain. Doubt if the young guys at the NH dealer know or care. Modern NH tractors since Fiat took over are also a darker shade of blue than Ford tractors were.

I wouild say take the starter apart and clean it, you should be able to get brushes for it easily, and it'll save it in the long run. Same for the generator.. if it works, let well enough alone unless you're going to put high power lights on it to bale hay at night... and nowadays you gan get awesome LED's that don't take half the power

Here is a tractor from about the same era (1964ish)..

I would probably take that home made bumper off it, and include it, but not have it mounted.

how in heck do you turn it. It would take 40 acres to make a circle

it takes 10 pt turns :) it's the only thing that doesn't need steel tracks to pull a 10 ft blade of manure uphill over wet cowpies. We only put about 20 hours a year on it, but it's sure handy for those 20 hours. I've been thinking of repowering it with a Cummins 5.9L.. I think it would drop right in, 40% more power and probably less fuel usage... As long as it's running I'm not going to mess with it though.

It's a small looking tractor for a 4wd 80HP though... you can actually get it into most barns
