Good grief... how would you ever get up in the saddle? You would need a ladder!

You could do what my kids do. Have a stirrup tied to a rope hung over the horn. Right foot in it, left foot in saddle, then leg over. Throw the stirrup down for the next kid.

You can't beat a Perch or Clyde cross for a mountain horse. Also if you ever have to ride in country where you're bucking 2 feet of snow and heavy brush a draft cross will get the job done where a normal sized cow horse would be getting packed home. Another bonus is when you dally off to a cow with one of these brutes the horse doesn't move. The good ones are 16 to 17 hands high and weigh from 1400 to 1600 pounds. Ones like the straight Clyde in the picture are a little to extreme. You would be constantly getting your hat knocked off if you rode in the timber and it's way to far to crawl off and on to get it.
