I am no expert. All I know is roping saddles but I didn't think plantation saddles had saddle horns. I guess it could be a version of one though. The horn is the only thing that makes me wonder but then like I said I am NO expert.

Well it could be. Maybe someone on here knows more about them than I do. I can tell by the picture that it is REALLY old. Wonder what history it has seen?

well i'm not an expert either but that sure is a hard one to figure out...it could be a plantation saddle...I dont think plantation saddles are supposed to have a horn either but like you said...it could have been modified...plantation saddles usually have a raised cantle and a higher pommel than most saddles...because they are for riding for long distances usually...but the only thing I see that makes me think it isn't a plantation saddle is that is doesn't look to have a very flat seat...could just be the angle of the picture...or maybe it just lost its shape a little bit over the years...looks like somebody sure got their money out of that saddle :) ...got any idea how old is it? :D

yeah, I would definitely oil it up before it deteriorated further. Im jealous of your find.

This saddle kinda looked similar to me. Its a Kimberly Australian Stock Saddle. That is definitely a treasure you found.
