I got started a little late on flys and treating with minerals. What spray on are you using to get rid of flies ? On a second note my angus is getting eaten up and the long horns are not. Is that normal ?

Its common for some individual animals to barely be bothered, while other individuals are covered in flies. Ultraboss works as good as anything I've found, but its expensive if you have a lot of animals. Also requires getting close to them.

Permectrin, might be spelled wrong. Pretty cheap also.
I spray mine but have also noticed they don't bother my longhorns as bad.

Have the clarifly salt blocks, xp820 fly tags. Hardly a fly to be found.

8 oz of Permethrin and 4 oz of mineral oil per gallon of water and use a pump up sprayer and spray them down good.
I also spray all around the feeder we have concrete floor in the corrals so I spray the floor near the feeders.
We also get in there with the loader and remove all manure once a month.
However if you have a ranch near you that doesn't treat flies it's very difficult to get rid of them regardless of what you use in my opinion.

Don't know. Pour it on ??
I have not used one.
I did have cattle curtains and they worked great ...but I was going broke keeping them full. They just wicked to fast.

I always used diesel. Not sure if it was the diesel or the permethrin that actually kept the flies away, but something worked.

We bought a couple Lewis Oilers last week and they guy that brought them out used a hog sprayer to saturated the oilers. I never thought about using one for an oiler but it worked perfect. He mixed diesel and Permectrin CDS.

I will warn that when I used diesel and permectrin the buzzards destroyed every thing. They ripped the rubs to shreds.

It did work good before it got messed up.

Would have been good to have an old can of Warbex in the mix to work on the buzzards.

I tried to spray the animals but it scared them. I sprayed the rub with the same spray before the mention of mineral oil. That sounds like a good idea. I used permethrin 2. I got a quart for $33. It seems to be working pretty decent. My father in law said he never used anything but diesel. I though he might have been crazy but appears I might have been crazy for thinking that. Thank you guys
