the flies at my place are awful this year...have sprayed with permectin, vacinated ,and dosed them with Boss....saw a little relief after last working yesterday....have had 2 calves with pinkeye already....any advise is appreciated

Rig up some thing where they have to walk under a fly bag to get water. It will save you money long term and do and better job. Still do a Brute, Ultra Boss, Perm, treatment but the bag will keep them brished up in between.

Will these products address heel flies ?

I had to Google heel fly as they have never been an issue for us. While reading it appears injectable Ivermectin works and also spraying with Co-Ral. We spray at least once a year with Co-Ral, some times twice because of the ticks.

The powder I use is Python dust. It does not say heel fly specifically but lists some flies and says some thing to the effect of... and other nuisance flies.

As a whole, I can the cattle stay a lot cleaner and look better all the way around with the bags. I just don't have near the issues with flies, lice, ticks or any others since investing in them with the panels and stuff.

What kind of bags / dust do you use ? I have back rubs with burnt motor oil , diesel fuel and one of the fly treatments. ( can't think of the name ) Flys are awful!

i am rotaing pastures every week ...using backrubber with oi land diesel....put a mophead with permectin on the mineral feeder..checked cows this morning...got another one with bad eye. Will try to get her up to work on her when it cools off some today.

Was this for me or the OP?

I use Python dust and bags that look like this from the feed store.

The bags do actually wear out on bottom. It looks like a burlap sack where the powder comes out and eventually it wears a hole and the powder starts falling out.

The diesel, oil, etc deal was so messy and nasty to deal with. Plus, the buzzards destroyed the deals you soak. I can buy a 5g bucket with like 4 or 5 smaller bags of dust and just refilled the bags as I make the rounds checking cattle. No mess and stuff to get every where and I can always use another 5g bucket.😄
