Was moving a few cow/calves over the weekend and had one calf decide to find new and exciting ways to get out of what I wanted him to do.

All ended well, but it dawned on me that had something caused an injury, I dont have so much as a band-aid to treat with. Shame on me and I need to fix this.

So, tell me, what do I need/want to keep on hand in the event "something" happens?

If something big happens, I will call the vet. I am not looking to preform sugery at all, but I am so unprepared I am asking you where to start.

:) This is what i keep around for cattle and horses.
syringes of all sizes, large and small gauge needles, baytril,
LA200, dexamethasome, Banamine, sulfa tablets, instant
colustrum(Just like moms is excellant! ) ace, probiotics for
horse and cattle, vet wrap, eye med( no steroids-- only
gent drops and neomycin ointment) , screw worm bomb,
sharp knife, bloat treatment, halters, gauze, wound spray(iodine-gentle) koppertox, calf tube feeder, electrolytes,
horse and cattle vaccines, fly spray, epsom salts, rubbing alcohol, thermonitor ( I mispelled that! ) I am sure I missed something! :P

Thank you very much.

As for missing something, I am sure that each person keeps specific things based on need or past experence. My problem is that I had no idea where to start.

Thanksa again for the list.

I have a rope, a nose lead, calf puller chains, syringes and needles, Micatil, La200, calf scour tablets, Baytril, eye medicine, screw worm bomb, wound spray, calf tube feeder, electrolytes, instant colostrum, blackleg/pinkeye vaccine, generic ivomec, hoof clippers, needle nose pliers, wire snippers, gas, salt, scalpel, Hack saw, plastic sleeves and rubber gloves. I didnt think I kept hardly any emergency stuff, but when you start thinking of it individually, it adds up.

Well, "something" covers a whole lot of ground, but a basic start - assuming you've got your facilities in place, including a chute - would be an all-purpose antibiotic such as penicillin, blood-stopper powder (in a pinch, flour works well for this), wound dressing ointment or spray of some kind, fly spray (depending on the time of year), a good rope halter, nose tongs come in handy if dealing with washing out a cheek/jaw abcess, a good rope, a variety of syringes - disposable are cheaper and work well, a variety of needles (make sure the one you're using is sharp and burr-free), peroxide, and iodine. If your operation is cow-calf, then you also need to have on hand a good powdered colostrum, scour pills/tablets/liquid, a calf puller or come-a-long (make sure you know how to use them before they are needed), calf pulling chains and handles, bottle and esopheageal feeder (again, make sure you know how to use it before it's needed). I'm sure I've forgotten something, but I'm equally sure another member will fill in what I've missed.

to the above lists add aa stethoscope and a thermometer....the digital ones at a drugstore work well, but get a couple of batteries for it as spares....
