I had a group of heifers that I fed grain up to about 900-1000# then turned out on grass with the bull. A couple came up open and I think I may want to finish them out for freezer beef. Nine months later, they are pretty leaned out and don't weigh any more than they did. How long on feed would you think it would take to get their condition back to grade well enough to satisfy customers? It obviously isn't just a ADG or total gain issue but more of a time and muscularity development issue. Thanks for any thoughts.

Nothing is wrong with a 1000 lbs. in my opinion. Nice tender young beef, brings
people back next year. You sell 1500 lbs, people don't have freezer space. Bill is a lot higher. They don't need beef next year unless they are big beef eaters.

I guess I may not have explained myself very well. My question is how much time on feed do you think it will take to "rebound". They pretty much lost all of their condition while on grass and hay this winter. I want them to regain their optimum musculature and finish prior to harvesting.
