My mother had to get her vehicle license renewed which should have been a relatively simple procedure except she was told that her initial fingerprints that she submitted were 'smeared'. She would have to have her prints taken again. So she blackens her fingers and is told to come back in 6 weeks time for the license.

Six weeks expire and we are off to collect her license. She is told that there is a big problem and that they cannot issue the license  .... her fingerprints are totally smooth. We spent a very frustrating day getting her license renewed by way of alternative identification but we eventually managed I hope, she can pick it up in 6 weeks time.

Have you ever heard of a person's fingerprints fading over the years and becoming totally smooth, it is a fact, she definitely has no prints?

Is your mother in witness protection?

I would think as she gets older and her skin becomes thinner and thinner this might account for her fingerprints becoming less visible.

You need to get finger printed for a driver's license? Here you can get one with just about any form of ID, up to and including a power bill with your name on it.

It takes about 5 forms of ID to get an Indiana driver's license. My daughter was born in the same local hospital I was born in. I thought we were going to have to have our DNA tested. Fortunately, no finger prints. That would have been embarrassing, since I'm in the witness protection program.

Same here. It's a new development. Used to be all you needed was your old license. Now you need a birth certificate, SS card, light bill, phone number, cancelled check, dentist, and doctor bill.

A friend is a brick layer. His finger are as slick as a baby's butt. Quit doing it for awhile and they return.
What I was thinking....hard worker.
Has had a relatively easy life, not too much hard work.

Think it must be an age thing. She is quite indignant about it all

I have a friend who has no finger prints. They messed with him for a while but it was solved when a couple of government people signed papers agreeing he has none. He's an old guy.
