Finally Some Luck

I took a 18 month old Angus heifer in to the vet to have her checked Saturday. I had it figured that she should have calved last month. The vet checked and said she was close but the calf was probably too large. He said to be sure and keep an eye on her and call if I needed any assistance. Well I do not live on my farm so I decided to take her to the sale barn located right next door. He also asked what I was feeding them because he said she had a bcs of a close seven or high six. I laughed and said my cows were on liquid feed and scrounging for grass. I asked him if he knew anyone that had any hay. He said he might have about twenty rolls he could let me have. Man, I thought how lucky is that. He then asked me if i would sell him the heifer. so we agreed on the heifer and $500.00 for twenty 5x6 rolls of coastal and he will deliver on Tuesday. He said if he was me, he would keep the rest of my momma cows if they were bred. So I sold all but seven Mommas and one twenty month old bull. With whole cotton seed and a little rain for the rye grass I should be able to make the winter.

Glad to hear that Papa!!!

We had a huge fire Friday afternoon! They got it put out about 1/2 mile from our place. We hauled all the cattle off of our place trying to beat the fire. One of the guys helping me had a bad floor and my bull fell thru. He lost half of his cannon bone... It looked nasty. Luckily he was able to walk and we got him to the processor...

What kind of liquid feed are you feeding?

I read in the Bible that it rained once. I for one am ready for it to rain for 40 days and drizzle till it dies up.

Go easy on that cottonseed to that young bull, or he will be shootin blanks
