Too funny guys!
But truth be told, when the cows need to be fed and it is -30 and a wind on top of that, an open tractor is the last place any farmer wants to be on. That 1/2 mile ride to the bush seems so much longer, especially on the way back
If he fell over, I think he might be in trouble.
He has a quilted jacket underneath and his overalls are quilted even in the bib area. So when he needs to...like calving problems or sawing wood,or fixing fence or tractors the outer jacket can come off. He has a lighter pair of work winter boots. Here in Manitoba they are called dairy boots. Basically like heavy rubber boots with full length liners. He put a board down on the tractor floor where his feet rest when driving. That way the boots are not on the metal of the tractor, but it was not enough, so on bad days, out come the big boots. The mask was something he did not want, but i am tired of seeing come home with frozen skin on the cheeks and nose area. He has promised he will wear it when it is windy and when he drives the tractor to and from the bush to feed the cows. Once he is in the bush, all is ok.
Hubby says once the duck is broken in it is not so bulky. He likes the duck stuff. Even his summer overalls are duck. He says the nothing can "jump out and get him". Like nails, barb wire etc which tear so easily the nylon ski suits. And Duck wear lasts for a few good years. He wears those winter overalls for almost 5-6 months of the year, and can get three to four years out of them. The last duck jacket we bought him lasted 7 years. So I think we get our monies worth. The cheaper stuff (only by about 20-40 dollars) will barely last him a season. It's all tore up, and shredded by spring.
And normaly when we need to replace the gear, it's usually one or the other. Never both. But last year he was determined to make it last. This year he had duck taped the stuffing of his jacket sleeve. He was leaving trails all over the place with stuffing that fell out...it was too funny!
As for goggles...he says they fog up!
