Started raingin about 20 minutes ago, an inch and three quarters so far. This is more then we had all last month, and it's just a scattered shower

Congrats. I wish we could get some rain. I never thought I would say this but I would like to see a hurricane .

Right now I'd take anything...a scattered shower, historic flood, a bunch of big old boys spittin'. It's a tender box here.

Which gauge are you using Dun? The one nailed to the post or the digital one? Seems like nearly 2 inches in twenty minutes is pretty heavy. Just reading Birmingham Alabama in 2003 had 10 inches in 3/4 hours resulting in "historic floods". better break out the inflatable.
regards

The digital one, can;t see far enough outside through the rain to see where I used to have the other one. Right at an hour now and we're at 2.6 inches. Water is coming down so fast it's either missing the gutters or the gutters are so full that they're running over.
Won;t do much for the cool season grasses, to late for that. Supposed to be in the high 90's after today, but at least it's moisture.

You don't have any rain in the forecast this week? I thought maybe someone around here might get some rain. I haven't seen any since the 4th. Pastures look like crap.

I've learned that rain in the forecast and rain on the ground are entirely 2 different things. :(

My real worry is fire, again. Fires around here several months ago were devastating. The air stayed filled with smoke for days on end. Sirens going off constantly. At one point, my area was literally ringed with grass fires. Yeah, they were about 10 miles away, but the wind was so high that I was afraid to go anywhere lest I need to call an already overworked fire department.

I'm really getting nervous.

Dun, glad that you are getting the much needed rain. I just finished sprigging some bermuda and could use a shower myself.

Alice, hope you folks down there get some soon. know that you must feel helpless with it so dry.

I know how I panic just a few weeks without rain.

I bet dun's getting close to 6 inchs by now.

9:45 and 6.56 inches. Cows are trying to crawl on each others backs to get out of the running water. Glad I have a strong fence between them and the boat

I'm jealous. We'd like to have the .56 part of your rain.

.56? Dang you DO have a good rain gauge!

Still raining, no end in sitght for a while. another inch and a half and we'll have gotten the normal for june and july all this morning.
Not complaining, just commenting

Good for you Dun & the rest of MO... on the news Sat night they reported we are 4.5 inches behind normal for the year, and 3.5 inches behind from June 1st.... we cut our 2nd crop yesterday, what there is of it, and I checked on a couple of things and realized since we cut 1st crop we had gotten one rain come thru that gave us about 1.25 inches. 2nd crop was lucky to hit my knees and I'm not that tall! Blessing 1st crop was good!

BTW, send the rain north when your done with it, I won't even complain if the downed hay gets rained on :)

The combined average for june and july is 7.96, we're now at 7.99, still raining and more on the way.

See what happens when you over do that rain dance dun??

We were very lucky here and got 2 1/2 inches on the 4th. Had about an inch the week before. We have more grass now than we did in May.

Hope everyone is finally getting some!

Finally stopped for a while but there is more coming. 9 inches total since 5:15 this morning. Haven;t had the guts to go look at the lane and see if I'll need the tractor to tow the wife up to house tonight
