Got a charolais bull that has very tender feet. He is staying in the pond regularly. If I remeber from when granddad had cows it is caused by the fescue. I can't remember if it is from walking in it or eating it. What do I need to do to give him to relief? I have very tall grass would trimming it down some help him?

fescue foot is caused by eating high endophyte fescue. Finding some method of feeding him wihtou him eating the seed heads of fescue is about all that works. You may try to dilute the endophyte by feding him at least 50% of his diet on something other then fescue.

I have a cow that had severe fescue poisining when she was in Missouri. That was 2 years ago and if she gets very heavy at all her back feet still bother her.

I mowed the field down with the cutter at a high setting to clip the heads. I may have to put him up and feed him. Don't know how well he will stay penned with the girls running around. Is there anything you can spary on his hoofs?
