Has anyone heard about FEMA buying armored vehicles? I thought FEMA was all about responding to national disasters.

their probably for the big O, aka zero ... to protect him from the sht storm he's getting us into

The only thing I could find was AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps but it didn't say anything about munitions and armored vehicles. The hearesay is that it will be connected to Homeland Security somehow. I understand the concept of having a rapid response population for disasters but can't figure out why they would want armored fighting vehicles. I guess the details will emerge soon enough.

Sometimes the people who are supposed to help you want to ensure their "requests" are carried out promptly and with no trouble.

So they need the power to also become your "keeper".

Similar to the police - who love the motto: To protect and serve" - or is it "To serve and protect"?

No matter.

Not many police have ever showed up before the crime was committed to protect you.

And not many of the modern young professional police of today consider themselves your "public servant".

If you think they do think like that just try to tell one that you are not interested in showing him your ID - very common now for them to spray or zap you despite not being threatened in any way. Got a few court cases going on up in Canadas right now for that very reason.

Beware of those who are paid by your taxes, wear uniforms and carry weapons and equipment that is better than what you own.

Times are changing and just because you keep a low profile does not mean you will not be noticed.

And yeah, I am still in the military!

In closing, remember this - Just because they are not out to get you (today) does not mean you should not be paranoid. LOL

Best to all

Bez we are told that the military is doing insertion drills in some of our larger cities. I know Houston for sure and also some place in Florida.

For the first time in my life i am starting to believe some of the conspiricy theorists..

One thing i believe is that the POTUS has very little desire to give up his residence in 4 years.

Might seem silly but all it would take is the declaration of marshall law and we are subjects overnight!

I have a question for you Bez. Have you ever been asked if you would be willing to fire on your own countrymen?

I am very afraid, in my children's lifetime the military will be at least partially responsible for keeping peace here on American soil. I also fear that people will leave the USA to find work.

I have heard something about this but can't remember where. It was said that they were needed to get into hurricane impact areas sooner either ahead of or during the storm. That may be true but how easily it would be to use them for something else.

FEMA responded to a hurricane in VA a few years ago and I was detailed as a lead person for them. They had a driver bring a SUV from TX and flew people from across the US to the area. They followed me and a crew in our pickup trucks and I had to use my personel phone because their satelite phones did not work. We spent 4 days doing rapid needs assessment and never delivered anything to anybody. I left them and worked with our own crews helping people. I was told that loads of Ice and water arrived weeks later and the ice was unloaded to melt and the water was stored in a warehouse they rented. What a joke. Seen some of the same issues in 2008 in TX in CB's area. The state crews would send out almost 100 truckloads of food, water, ice, etc. a day and FEMA might get out 5.

My son knows a little about the ice you mentioned that was put in freezers. FEMA did not know how to dispose of the surplus so they appointed a think tank to come up with an envrionmentally friendly way to dispose of it. When it was all agreed upon and the policy and procedure and the environmental impact statement was written up they pulled it out of the freezer to melt and then poked the bags to drain the water and then tossed the empty bags in the trash. This cost us $5 million.

A buddy of mine forwarded this link recently which talks about the connection between Homeland Security and FEMA and these fighting vehicles they have been purchasing. I know the creation of a rapid reaction group for FEMA is true but as to acquiring armed vehicles and incredible amounts of ammunition, I don't know. Articles like this are hard to validate.

Have you folks forgot about Hurricane Katrina. Nothing was being done or got done until they turned it over to the military and then things got under way in an orderly fashion. We do not need the goverment until disaster strikes and we cry out for them and wonder what took them so long to get there.

All those that hate/fear ALL government and ALL Federal Agents need to remember that those Homeland Security Folks (like Border Patrol, Customs, Coast Guard, Secret Service) and the FBI/DEA/ATF Agents - along with the folks that make up our military that some now seem to fear, probably originally came from either your hometown or one much like it... These Federal Agents are not cloned aliens from another world- but most were recruited right from your local sheriffs offices/police depts., schools, streets-- and they all put their pants on one leg at a time as everyone else does...
I'm not a great FEMA fan-- and definitely not a Homeland Security fan as you never make a government bureaucracy more efficient by making it bigger/more powerful...

Over the 40 years I worked in Law Enforcement or with the Judiciary, I've had the opportunity to have many friends/co-workers that were federal employees/Agents - including a sister who retired a few years ago after a good career as an FBI Agent-- and have never heard one ever talk of any secret schemes to take over the country-or imprison everyone- altho for all those 40 years there have been those conspiracy theories floating around- and folks building bunkers/buying machine guns and ammo- storing years of food, etc... ... I think the big thing now- is with the internet and e-mails- more people can fearmonger faster by putting out false conspiracy theories anonymously...
But I don't buy into them...

When disaster strikes the last place ill be looking is the gvt. We're well prepared to take care of ourselves, our family, and friends. Those are the people to look out for and look towards for help.

I just have one question for you..............Would you fire on your own people if the order came down to go door to door to collect their firearms?

or you can look at it this way. If your son was in the National Guard and he was ordered to take your neighbors firearms for no good reason than some shythead in Washington decided that he didn't need them anymore would you tell your son to fire on him.

I had a conversation yesterday with a young man who is a devout Christian and a firm believer in the second ammendant. He is a member of a swat team in a fairly large western city. He tells me that he and his fellow team members have already had that conversation and all but a couple said they would lay down their weapons and walk away before they would do that.

Where do you stand?

If you're asking me-- #1 It is not going to happen! Nothing will come out of D.C. changing gun laws to any degree which will affect me... And I'm as pro-gun as you can get....When I was Sheriff I issued more Concealed Carry permits than had ever been issued before out of that county in all the years put together...

I think that's all the proof we need fellas, it's obvious that Oldtimer is one of them. He's just trying to lull us into a false sense of security! Everybody - back to work on those bunkers!

(Sorry OT but being rational is no fun.)
