Just got notice of this from the Angus society. The Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle is changing. The draft code is available for public comment. So far 28% of respondents are self-identified animal welfare advocates. 32% put themselves as consumers. If you want to read it and respond here is the website:

I just read through it.. I didn't find anything jumped out at me that wasn't common sense or naturally humane... I'll take a closer look later.

It's hard to put numbers to what is acceptable, like how many trip while loading, etc... I know I have to twist a few tails to get the calves loaded.. they really don't like to move...
