I have outside feedpens-- that I have to clean regularly.

They are 17'wide-- 7' of it is a concrete apron along the bunk side.

Over the years the level of the pen drops with all the cleaning.
I tried geotextile fabric and gravel -- that didn't work for long even though I kept adding gravel-- sooner or latter they got to parts of the fabric and tore it up. And I was cleaning out way to many gravel mixed in with the manure.

I don't want to concrete the whole pen-- I use it to cut and sort calves and concrete is just too slippery for comfort.

Any sugesstions of what else there is to try?

We just add dirt as needed - the county excavates dirt for various reasons from different areas on a fairly regular basis, a phone call to the right office, the trucks are routed here for dumping, and the rest is taken care of with the loader.

Same here, we blade the pens and add fresh dirt, seem to grow the stuff. We do this twice a year on average and really helps with the dainage. DMc
