I have an 850 lb Angus heifer that I am going to show and she is a great looking heifer. However, it you get behind her and look it always looks like she is bloated. Not bloated bad or anything, its just her sides stick out like she's really fat. (except her butt is still small). Its there any thing I can do to fix this? Am I giving her too much hay? (2 flakes a day and 22 lbs of grain)

well you have an angus heifer with an angus but with a lot of rib so its gona stick out, Market or Breeding?? what are you feeding her

I was in the same sitiation a while back. Big fat belly like a double wide and a skinny butt. I cut her feed back to 3 cans for 3 weeks (in a off month with no shows) then started walking her alot and let her body catch back up then upped the feed to 5 again. The rest of her caught up with her sides and her butt and front shoulders got more muscle and she is in shape now. (2 miles every saturday and some throughout the week) 1 thing about angus is they dont have a whole lot of junk in the trunk so of course the sides will seem wide.

That's what the judges call spring of rib. A yearling should be getting that way to show her capacity. A heifer should not be barrel gutted.
