Feed program for donors

What do you feed your donor cows (if you keep them on the ranch for a fresh flush)? How soon before flushing and how do you keep from burning them up on too much grain/foundering them? Considering flushing a cow and want to be able to get as many eggs as possible but not get the ration too hot. Thanks!

My vet says to increase the nutrition 3-4 weeks prior to flushing but do not get crazy. A fat donor can be a disaster. We fed our's the same ration we use on heifers designed to put on 1.5 lbs per day. We work up to five pounds of this ration a day. Just enough to increase the nutritional plane for the cow
