Feed Per Ton

Help Support CattleToday:

your cows on pasture or in a small lot. if on pasture you won't need any protein at all even if you feed some corn which you don't need either. if in dry lot yeah, but 20% is what we fed to dairy. beef would not need that much

kaneranch,

Decent costs...don't need that much protein by bulk...you will need to cut it with some filler. What would you use and it's cost..will determine if this is a good/viable purchase. If you have a grinder vescue/general hay would be a good additive ground up to get the 13-15% protein...generally acceptable as dry feed.

How much per ton do you pay on 20% protein feed, I saw some for 155 per ton is that resonable?
You wont be needing that kind of Protein for Beef Cattle. IF you have to supplement them with some feed, 10-12% Protein should be adequate. The excess Protein will just run through em' like water.
