Family I get my feeder calf feed from had a bad fire Tuesday night. Owner , young man , left his small loader running under the bulk feed bins while he delivered a load of mixed feed locally. Loader caught fire . Lost his personal pickup , a tractor , the loader , maybe a larger loader , tons of feed ingredients, tons of mixed feed and all his storage. I had just filled my feed truck on Tuesday morning. Calves will have feed till first of next week and then we’ll have to find from another source. Say a prayer for the Jones family . No one hurt that I know of . IMG_8173.jpegIMG_8172.jpegIMG_8171.jpeg

Wonder if that loader has regen? A local feed mill burnt a few years ago here. There luckily were others near to take up the slack.

Dust on manifolds or hot bearings is all it takes. Look at the amount of combine fires every year! A smoldering hot spot can easily become a disaster if you are not around to catch it.

He left the loader running because it had got hard to crank . I’m pretty sure it didn’t have regen ; it was an older one .

Could have easily been electrical they go up quick. When a fire has dry material and airflow it is a furnace. Look at the fire in Hongcong? this week. The high rise buildings and wooden scolding were impossible to put out.😢

Young couple, 2 young kids . Opened in the old Gold Kist building. Slowly had built a good business selling fertilizer and feeds . Didn’t loose the office part of the business and had over $125,000 worth of lawn mowers stored there his father said .

Insurance; can’t not have it , can’t live with it . Different insurance on loader , his tuck and tractor from insurance on building. Neither one wants to pay . Second hand information, haven’t talked to the feed mill owner .
