Hay prices have doubled here since fall. Hay is mostly going south into areas that had a lot of flooding last summer.

I have a lonely feed cart that has been sitting in a shed for several years... Thinking about fence line feeding shell corn to stretch hay supplies. Grass hay would still be free choice.
Any tips on how much? Any thoughts on cracking the corn and adding ionosphore?

I would think at least 10 lbs/head/day to see any measurable decrease in hay consumption.

I was thinking 4 to 6 #/day to stay under 0.5% of BW.
At that level they will gain some wt., but I agree, they may eat the same amount of hay.
I am trying to avoid a limit feeding situation but that may not be possible.
