Did you bevel the edges or are they not sharp after you cut it?

If so a hoof rasp would probably work good.

I am about to built a couple of those too.

Great picture. I'd thought about doing something like this before just wasn't sure how to build the frame. I'm not much of a carpenter, but this looks easy enough. Almost as easy as the mineral feeder turned out to be. I think this will be my next weekend project. Sure will be a lot cheeper than one of those I've been yearning for at the feed store. I've been needing a couple of new feeders but have been putting off buying them because of the cost. Thanks for the idea, you've saved me a bundle!

My binks look just like the ones Miles built but I add a support board on the outside on each end to keep the plactic barrel from warping.
They work good. And if the bulls decides to wear one as a hat you are only out a few bucks.

That should have been my next addendum. The dang heifers must have taken turns jumping in it last night the way the plastic is warped. It still functions though.

You're welcome. My feed bunk ain't purty but it beats paying $85 for one from TSC. I thought about having a steel frame welded up but I figured it would just rust out in the pens.

Drill any holes in the bottom? If I did that mine would turn into fish ponds.

I cut it with a jig saw using a metal cutting blade. I scraped off the bur with a pocket knife and smoothed it up with some sand paper.

We've talked about making some but puttin a pipe base under it. dont matter what we build outta wood it never seems to last long around here. even the treated stuff.

Nice! But a little out of my range of skills. The other simpler project WILL probably take me an entire weekend and I like the fact that they are portable.
