We are about to go into the negative digits for temps for awhile and folks have already been calling about what we are going to do during this cold snap. Lots of talk about card games. Got me thinking......what are some of your favorite card games?

We used to play cribbage all the time growing up it was nice to do as a family. After every Sunday dinner we would do the dished and Dad would get the crib game ready.Nice family memories about that especially when you can beat Dad once and a while :D .

Now my husband and I like to play scrabble. He only wins when I let him use three languages ;-) .

Ever heard of Joss?

Alice

No, what is that Alice?

Or should I ask after Crowder's post.

Maybe the spelling is wrong...it might be Jass...pronounced Yoss...

My Ohio grandparents played it...and taught it to us. My Mother and Daddy played it with us to teach us math.

Yo!!!!! What about Spades!!!!!! Talk about dormitory card games.

500 bid (not rummy) card parties, lots of neighbors, friends. Everyone brings a snacky treat, throw 2 bucks in the pot. Rotate tables, win some change. NOt alot but enough for bragging right and baby sitter pay

HD the cribbage board will come out for sure!!! :D

Spades probably Alice, not sure what that other game you are talking about is.

Yeah Ang, they will all show up with kids, food and beer.

Crowbar.....talk about boring, aren't you the guy who drank a glass of wine and passed out on New Years Eve?

Kids food and beer is great Misty, We make a rule that no kids a tables though. When I play cards, I want to play cards. Pay attention and keep it moving. Time at table rotation to talk.

MM can't help you there. Tried playing cards while I was younger, and just couldn't set still long enough.
Still can't. Only games I perticipated in we're outdoor games. Guess I'm the odd one.

One of our family favorites is tripoley. We play it at every holiday and then some. I just taught my cousin how to play last weekend and she loved it!! She would have cleaned out the house if she wouldn't have used nickles off of me!!
We alsojust learned one on new years eve that was called high/low, it was a poker game and one of the most easiest ones I have ever learned!

;-)

War and Skip Bo. Ucher, too, if that's they way you spell it. Have not played that one in years. Or you can do reverse strip poker, since it is cold. You have to put clothing on instead of taking it off. Let me know how that one goes.

Lammie and Curtis, what's with the strip poker and all...kinda would expect that out of some others on here. See what with all the clothes we wear up here Curtis, could be a long night of cards. And Lammie, reverse strip poker would make it a real short night of cards then.

Looks like everyone wants to lose some money to me. 8) They are all crying for a poker night.(NOT STRIP)
