New to raising beef cattle and farming in general. I am looking to get 3-4 steers for beef production. I was told that any exotic breed cross with angus would be best for me. I am just curious what angus cross's everyone likes best for beef production and why? I live in SW Michigan area if that helps. Thanks!

Angus cross pretty well with about any other breed so in my opinion it just comes down to a personal preference and what your goals are. I like Angus Hereford crosses. If you are looking for continental crosses Angus Charolais crosses complement each other well.

I would say if you are looking for purely feeder steers use a Simmental or Charolais.

I would choose a hereford or Simmental if you were looking to maybe keep a few heifers along the way.

We raise Angus x Charolais and Angus x Herefords. Hard to beat either one of those. I've always thought that Angus x Shorthorns are some of the deepest bodied steers I've ever fed.
