I was just wonderning what everyone's faveriote part of showing is. Mine is the part just before the judge starts placing because I love to watch him look one last time so I can make my steer stand the best and say to my steer" No matter what we get we're still winners"

My favorite part is walking into the barn at 5:00 in the morning and smelling the fresh shaving smell that is always in the air.

There's not much better than being picked for a Champion at a big show like Fort Worth or Houston or our World Show. The thrill of winning is a pretty good rush. But at the same time talking to all my old friends from across the country is great, i would go to shows just to hang out and talk with these folks. And finally, I do a little ring stewarding for some youth shows (especially the big ones, ft. worth, dallas, national show) and i love being out there keeping the show running along nice and smooth and helping the kids....its great.

so that wasnt exactly one favorite...but those 3 are pretty great and what i look forward to when a show comes around.

Yea, I forgot the whole winning part, I guess it's kinda fun.

walking into the showring knowing that you have put 100% into raising an animal and no matter how you place you tried your hardest.

Or just taking care of them every day, my heifer can be bratty but she is also really sweet, and my steer is just goofy

My favorite part would have to be just sitting around with my animals knowing that nobody but me has put the time and work into raising them. Plus visiting with everyone that I only get to see at the shows. Winning the shows isnt that important to me, just an added bonus. Just being there is what I enjoy.

hanging out in the barn, rushing to finish fitting that last heifer, going back for the championship drive (even if you don't win)

halter breaking first. I like the challenge of getting a calf to cooperate. I like clipping and the showing. I hate the fitting.

I like fitting and clipping the most, it's like a challenge taking something and making it better. Winning is an added bonus but i really pride myself in showmanship, the way I look at showmanship is thats the one thing that you have control over it doesn't matter if you have the worst steer or the best you have an equal oppurtunity to win

My favortie part about showin' is the night before a show after everyone is bedded down, is sittin around the cooler with Cowboy 2.0 and all our friends just sittin' there drinkin' some beer and hangin' out! Doin' all kinds of stuff in the barns too, if yall know what i mean!!

Sitting in a lawn chair and watching my kids actually enjoy doing chores.

Nothing better than seeing a kid joking, laughing and having fun all the while they are actually shoveling cow manure. Priceless!

It's even better when they volunteer to do a chore and they get mad if you do instead.

Yea my daughter is obsessed with keeping walk ways around the stalls clean she will rake the gravel 20 times a day. I wish I could get her to worry so much about keeping her room clean

There isn't just one thing i love about showing theres alot... Like going to pick a calf out, raising that calf and giving it 100% all the time, seeing all my friends that i only see at shows, clipping my steer a week before the fair with my dad and hoping he donsn't loose his temper with me pointing every little mistake out or the calf moving around, unloding that calf into the barn hoping he dosn't drag you down the isle to his pen, sitting there 2 classes befroe yours boneing out his legs, walking into that ring and looking that judge dead in the eye, comming outta that ring with a blue ribbon(or heck even if your luck a big purple grand champ ribbon), then those last few moments before you have to leave the barn and your calf gets hauled off to slaughter... thats what makes showing my passion.

The most exciting day is when I get to pick up my new calf or kid(I show goats as well). Waking up at 4am to wash and feed, knowing all my hard work will be worthwhile. Knowing I did my best to get my animal where it is on showday. Winning showmanship. Friends I only see at shows.

Meeting new people while looking to pick a calf out

Being late for school in the morning, only to find he has the runs and it's in the water.

Breaking them

The first look of recognition on their face when you come in after you've started breaking them

Waking up at 4:30 AM to be in the barn by 5:00 AM

Walking into the arena at a major show.

The smell of the show barn.

All the great Ag people.
