Last Wednesday cash fat cattle passed the previous record set back in November of 2014. The old record was $1.70 and some change. Wednesday Northern areas the cash cattle sold for $1.76-1.78. Finished cattle numbers are dropping and weights are going down giving feeders the advantage in negotiations.

And the parts not in drought had such a hard winter that they lost a lot of calves. Local FSA man told me that the county south of here they have lost over 1,000 calves do to the weather. A friend in Utah said his neighbor has lost 33. That will add up too.
