Farm Trac/ Montana

MONTANA bought out FARM TRAC,,, so the good things I said about the Farm Tracs I had used,, forget them. :(
Montana did not buy out Farmtrac, They bought the rights to the tractor that Farmtrac was importing from Romania. I do not remember the series. Farmtrac is still in business as far as I know.

The Romanian tractors are "Universal" tractors. I think Farmtrac dropped those once the full Farmtrac line was available in the US and then Montana picked them up as their "C-Series" line. No news there. That has been out there for a while.

You know Brute, it would be better not to post flat out rumor about something if you don't have facts to back it up. Can't say I appreciate posting something not supported about the tractor brand that I own.

That is just what I was told by my buddy who deals Farm Trac. Said they were having problems getting parts and stuff now. He pulled all his Farm Tracs off the lot because he did not want to sell some thing he could not get parts for until they new exactly what was going on.

I will post what ever I want, there is alot more BS on this board than this. I repeated it as I was told, if some thing is not totally accurate,, thanks for pointing it out,, but I do not purposely post lies. Get off your high horse. IF there is a problem with my posts than let the MODS do their job.

Let me guess you have 5 cows in a bubble and a 30 hp Montana Tracor,,, sorry if I offended you.

I don't know exactly what's in the air between Farmtrac and Montana tractors but part of it may be about the Romanian tractors/LONG.Montana owned/ownes 49% of Long/Farmtrac for some years. Farmtrac put a new face on the Long tractor and offered 2 or 3 models for a little while with the Farmtrac name on them. Then they were gone. If you go to the Montana web sire and look at the C-series tractors. They are Longs/UTB with a little change from the 2610/680 that Long offered but it pretty much the same tractor as the C6862. I was told last week that the Gov. owned UTB tractor plant in Romania is closed again. I say again because it's happened several times since 97 and I'm sure before that too.

Next Farmtrac said for over a year they'd have cabs on the 665 and 675 models (maybe more but I remember those two). They never got them. Then Farmtrac comes up with a 75 hp model with the perkins engine with a cab. The 675 is a 12 speed and the 75 hp(don't remember the model but may be 775) model is a 15 speed. I don't think that tractor comes from India. Perhaps Poland. I'm not sure but it's made a little different than the other model with the Perkins.

Look at the Montana Utility models with the cabs. That's the same style as the 75 HP model Farmtrac has with the perkins engine and cab. And they have cabs on the lower hp tractor and Farmtrac doesn't. So from little bits I've heard each co. wants something the other has. I could be wrong but it may turn in to a merger and Montana will still sell the green and Farmtrac the blue but share parts and cabs. And where there's a Farmtrac dealer a Montana dealer cannot set up within so many miles and start selling tractors and Farmtrac the same deal.

I'm trying to trade my Farmtrac 80/675 right now for a model with more HP. That's one of the models that SAME makes for Farmtrac. I have several pieces of equipment that need more HP than I have, to do the job correct. If Montana gets control of Farmtrac I'll look at another brand. Hope to find out what the dealers meeting was about last week in Raleigh NC. I won't trade until I know more.

Good post rmcva. ;-)

There is some thing stirring between those two right now.

If they merge I think they'll come out as no. 3 in tractors in the US. Also SAME has a lot of smaller and some larger tractors too. There was some talk about adding their full line. That would give FT over 20 models.

I just hope they keep each name and color they have now. I've been buying equipment over the years from Ford,MF and CIH and never had the service that I've gotten with farmtrac from any of them. I'm sure my dealer has a lot to do with that too.

Montana also gets it's loaders from Farmtrac and are made in the plant in Tarboro. These are the newer style loaders. Not the Long/Agri. style.
