Seems to me when we first started out the FSA was bending over backwards to help farmers out. Last time I went in for my farmers welfare, as other Dairy farmers call it, the MILC program, seems everything had changed. the 3 long time employees all gone, retired, farmed out, now only one person working, doing the job of all 3, seems strange, and I think they could care less about any of the farmers in this area, as long as they get their paycheck, and fab insurance and benefits, we are just a passing glance.

Anybody else notice this with their local FSA offices?

The service at FSA has been slipping for several years. When they merged FHA and ASC and put them in the same office with SCS it has been down hill ever since. It used to be on a rainy day I would stop at the SCS or ASC just to chat. Now they want you to make an appointment before you stop at the office. When you go its like going into a funeral parlor.

I think its just a sign of a changing America.

After seeing all of this I guess we're luckier then we were aware of. FSA office is great. Had to lay offa high priced employee and hire a lower paid one to replace her becasue opf budget cuts, but they've sure neve skrimped any on service or social with me. Great bunch of folks, spread a bit thin but still more then willing to help.
Maybe the small town attitude helps.

We live in a small town. I think the past two years especially farmers around here have gotten tired of being lied to by the employees there. I know several of the neighbors have said they call asking about drought programs are told that something is in the works, anytime now, and nothing happens. I can't stand people who really work for us, telling us a bunch of lies. I've lost faith with them. Use to know the 3 ladies that worked in the office, went in there here is this lady , I never saw before, doesn't know anyone in the area, in fact tranferred from Oklahoma. Last year what got everyone fired up is that the Govenor was touring Fair Grove I think, and said right on TV that he was going to get help to farmers in Missouri, how bad the drought was, got alot of people thinking help was on the way, and then nothing came of it. I just don't plan on getting help from my FSA office this way I won't be disappointed. I think thats the way alot of people feel around here.

I didn't pay attention to the outcome but your right they were promising some sort of relief. Polk county wasn't included in the list. I do remember that. A 4" rain in Boliver skewed the averages.

The hold up with drought assistance from last year is the legislature not approving the funds. Since the worst is over the citified people that make up the majority of that body would rather spend the money elsewhere. There were water source programs available but nothing for feed/pasture, etc.

The Grady County FSA is awsome, I've dealt with some of the Caddo county people as well and have nothing but respect for them. All good people who will bend over backwards for you. I know this from personal experience.
