fall begins

wont be long.. deer around here shed their antler cover way earlier than normal.. by about 3 weeks. Early rut? early winter?
some say its gonna be a dry winter around these parts.. but as long as we dont get that record breaking snow again.. thing will be fine..
And CottageFarm.. Im bettin winter will come to you before me... :)

Yep, am working like a mad man trying to get last year's wood split and stacked in the sheds by the outdoor boiler. I didn't get it done in time last year, hate digging wood out of snowbanks or working in snow.

 Mike...No, bet. I'm thinkin' you're right about that...
I've had a bet with my husband since June that we're going to have an early winter with 1st frost before 9/30.
Hoping I lose that bet though. Don't want to pick the pumpkins & winter squash just yet. Like to see them have a copuple more weeks, and my customers just cry when there's no more tomatoes for the season!

Jon, I've been looking real hard at that wood pile that's needed to be stacked all summer...but I'm a world class procrastinator, so I'm still just lookin' at it. :cowboy:

Not here yet thankfully . The leaves are just starting to turn, we have been having beautiful warm weather all month .Sunday is supposed to be in the high 80's ,it is already 79 out at 11:21 am and the geese are not flying south yet . About time we get some decent weather ,we still were getting snow in June. :???:

Our tomatoes didnt do very well at all, so I'm envious of your crop..
I gotta good friend of mine who runs a ranch up by Steamboat,, he usually keeps me up on the weather up there, and he says they got some of the best pastures he has seen up there this year for their cattle & buffalo.

Maybe ur husband is like me.. need to just tell you that wood isnt gonna move itself..

Sorry about your tomato crop, it was a good year here, though late beacuse the Spring was so cold & wet. The grasshoppers got the best of the best heirloom tomatoes. They just seem to know which ones would sell the best! They don't seem as interested in the hybrids. Go figure...
The North Park area had tons of moisture this year. I'll bet your friends pasture do look great. We usually go fishing up there, but haven't made yet this year. By the time run-off finally ended, we've been too busy to get away. I've not yet given up hope for this season though!
The wood pile is waiting for me more than my husband. I figure if he's gonna be kind enough to subsidize my little farm venture by working his butt off, the least I can do is try to take care of the chores I'm capable of, and stacking firewood falls under that catagory. :lol2: I did get smart last year though, and ordered 4 cords already cut & split! :D

Our heirloom tomatoes are really just getting going here. Spring was long and slow. So, I'm hoping for another week or two of good, warm weather. 'Sposed to be in the 80's through next week. BUT, we could use some rain, too!

Haven't seen much movement w/ Mule Deer bucks here, yet. Have does w/ fawns on the place every day. Still a little early for bucks to be hanging around -- and season isn't open. We don't usually get elk on the place until they are run out of the high ground by weather in Dec - Feb. We just watch 'em. :)

HD you can the 90's they are predicting this weekend here.
Right now I would take some snow, the dust is blowing pretty good here and the winter wheat is going into some hard dry ground. Hubby deepened our shanks and is hitting some moisture.
Last weekends storm missed us; again.

Felt like fall here yesterday.57 and rainy in the morning. But today and the rest of the week up in the 90's. At least maybe it wont be in the 3 digit.
