F series ecoboost

Dun wife has a ecoboost f150 4 door short bed and that thing hauls arse when u stomp it in my opinion fast as a v8. We drove it to the mountains where I grew up towing a 5x10 utility trailer to get my great grandpas horse drawn mowing machine and cultivator. Going there I was please with how well it sipped on gas but let me tell you on the way back with those hills and having to stomp it with that weight back there it pulled it fine but man... That thing drank gas like a OX drinks water.

It's the back road towing that had me concerned. The stock trailer would be bad enough but I was thinking of a 16 foot gooseneck flatbed and how it would handle that

I honestly think it would handle it well. It has good braking and power when you need it. I have the towing package on hers.
The one I'm looking at is rated at 11,300 lbs, the heavy duty tow package

I have to look at my paperwork but I think that may be what I got as well so when she got a new vehicle id take the truck. You should be fine I never thought about putting a gooseneck hitch on a half ton truck before. I know many have but I never have. If you purchase I know you will like the gas mileage it gets when not towing and the smooth ride and spacious cab. The heat will run you out of there and im almost convinced it has a forced air heater in there under the dash lol

Since we don;t haul heavy very often I was looking at maybe replacing the Super Duty and the Ranger with a F150. Tey all get about the same mileage but the SuperDuty being diesel costs a lot more per mile

Good move in my opinion. Would you have any back up trucks incase something happened with the 150?
Only the Model A

Lol I wonder how that would tow..
When I registered it they asked how heavy of loads I would be towing. When I quit laughing I think she got the point.
The superduty is only 5 years old and the ranger is 13 but still runs like a charm with no issues. Well ther is one, when I hit a bump the door ajar light comes on and it buzzes at me.

Gotcha.. I would keep the ranger its always good to have a back up. The superduty would find a new home lol I can deal with the door light and buzz .. When will you decide on the 150 ?

Dun,

I just bought 2 F-150s after my research I opted for the v8. There is only 1mpg difference and the v8 is $2600 cheaper. That's $1600 cheaper for the engine, and an extra $1000 rebate for the v8 as well. You'll never make that up at 1mpg pluses you are getting a more proven engine. I don't tow anything with these trucks and do quite a bit of hwy driving but am averaging 19.2 mpg total since I got em. On the hwy I'm getting 21-22.

I don;t think you can get the supercab in 4X4 and it doesn;t seem that htey have the towing ability that the ecoboost supposedly does

My wife has one that I pull a 8k lb camper with and it is a dream to tow with. The power is very diesel like, as it makes all of its torque at very low rpms. Dun, if you like towing with your diesel you should be tickled with an Eco-boost. I can pull Sam’s Gap on I-26 with the camper at the speed limit and never have to get over 3200 rpm. The only complaint that I have is that it needs a stiffer sidewall tire to cut down on sway. I am on the same plan as Skyhightree. The truck is mine as soon as she gets another vehicle, the only problem is she has had it two years and says she still likes it better than anything else made. Oh well, as long as she has it and I have my clunker I have one less payment.

I gotta disagree with 1mpg difference because when i bought my wifes truck and I bought my business fleet trucks some of which are 4 door 5.4L v8's empty without tools or tool boxes i asked her to drive them to her job which is 45 mins away her truck one week then one of the 4 door work trucks and she didn't stray off anywhere and went the same way home had exact mileage by the end of the week her truck had 1/4 tank more than the work truck but there is alot of variables in gas mileage to be considered its not cut and dry.

I'll drink to that. My wife consistantly get 3-5 mpg better mileage then I do in anything she drives.
One thing I noticed weird was when the temps were in the 20s for highs I got 6 more mpg in the super duty then before or since.

All I can think of is that cold air makes the fuel combust better, but it doesn;t make any difference in the Ranger. But maybe 250k plus miles makes a difference.

LOL yea i think the mileage may have just one tad to do with it. I love my ranger will keep it for a long time. Have you test drove the ecoboost yet dun ?
