Went out to see where my milk cow had gotten to since she was not in her pasture. She had gotten in the horse pasture. They were all happy grazing together.
Well, I had this barn tom cat come out there with me wanting to be petted. The horses all came up to get some attention, so I went to giving each one a good rubbing. My Morgan gelding took a dislike to this cat rubbing on my leg, so he started to push him away from me with his nose. He kept pushing the cat away. The tom finally had enough and laid down and would not move. My horse gave him one nudge too many and the cat clawed him on the nose! Which resulted in my horse jumping back then lunging forward and trying to kill the cat with his front feet. :shock: He missed and the cat jumped back then jumped at my horse who jumped back, then he lunged at the cat again and chased him a ways. :shock:
I have never seen anything like that in my life.
I guess my horse does not like cats. :lol:

Sounds like your horse likes you and is very jealous.Love is always a good thing.So the Tom loves you and the Morgan loves you ;;;;;;;Two boys fighting for your attention is not a bad thing ;-) .

My Mare Paint gets really jealous if I take my gelding Standard Bred out first so I guess it is just the same "she's mine/no she's mine" thing.

I don't think it is a good thing. I have been caught between a couple of them before, literally. :shock:
Crazy horses. One didn't like the fact I was combing the burrs out of this ones mane and lunged at him and he almost knocked me down. I had already combed the others mane.
I still swear it is something in our water that causes our animals to act like they belong in a looney bin. :lol:

One of my mares hates small animals and birds... well don't know for sure she hates them.... she just stomps on birds, cats, small dogs, etc. She does however tolerate my bigger dogs (80lbs) without any hassles. She has killed plenty, and I always warn folks with small dogs running around.... but don't have your dog running in my barn... ouch!

We have a couple barn cats. The horses don't really notice them but my cow does. She tries to jump at the cat all the time. Just this past weekend, my cousin was holding the cat when we went into the pen we had the cow/calf in. The cow went nuts! Had to quickly tell her to drop the cat and run.

Wonder why they don't seem to like them because any other time my cow would be just fine (and I'm sure your horse would be too). Interesting.

Concidering that big cats are a horses natural enemy.....I don't find it all that unusual. Since the cat clawed at the horses nose LOL
I have a cat that eats out of the same feed bucket as one of our horses. She (the horse) thinks its perfectly fine. The cat.....well he thinks its grand too...he gets fed more than once a day. One time cat food, the other two times horse feed LOL

Don't have no cats but I have one horse that will run my labs away. He is ok with them until they get too close and then he is off after them. Seems about 10 feet is his limit. He has gotten to both of them and they pretty much steer clear of him now.

It is common for horses to want to stomp smaller animals. Our pets have learned to clear out when the horses are around.

Donkeys really love to stomp. That is why many people use them as guard animals for sheep and goats. Look out coyotes and stray dogs!

I would be more inclined to say your horse does not like competition! ;-) :lol:
