Evaluate this formula please.

For all you nutritionist types out there. Can you tell me the value of this formula. What I mean to ask is for what purpose would you feed it. They call it their "Special Mix".

There was a bag mixed in with my mill order yesterday. Rather than take it back I called the mill for the formula. Thought I would run it past you all and get your opinions. I'm serious... the mill just changed hands and the new owners have the formula but not the knowledge of who, why or what it was created for.

1650# Ground Corn
500# Cotton Seed Hulls
100# Cotton Seed
25# Stock Salt
25# Calcium
1# Vitamin A 30

I'd say it's about 12% Protein.
Good mix for use as a grower feed, but where's the Bean Meal?

Sounds good, but I'd use more Vit A 30 this time of year.

I wonder why they built this ration to 2300 lb.s instead of an even ton.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe the type of mixing equipment, and the quantity of ground corn allowed more density.

I put it in the feed calculator from OSU and came up with 9.38% protein but very high in energy.

Thanks for the info. Pretty much all the guys that I dealt with at the mill are gone except for one and he's not around when I am there.

When I go in to get feed for the boss or myself I usually have to walk to the aisle it's in and point it out.

Never ordered this special mix so I was curious as to what it was... high amount of corn kind of concerned me as I was fixing to feed it to the 4-H heifers.
