EPDs

Differnt breeds use different terms for calving ease. Generally CE is Calving ease of that particular animal, CED is the daughters of that animals calving ease. Some use CE or CED as calving ease direct, some use CED or CETM for the dauters calving ease. You need to check with the particular breed organization to see what their particular definitions are.

Thanks Dun, I think that this one uses CED as calving ease direct and I understand that the higher the #s the more calving ease. I hope that this is correct with my Simmental as his is 11.4 and I was planning on using him on some heifers.

Jeanne is the wizard on Simmenthals but I seem to remember reading that the Simmenthal association claims a CED of 10 is ok to use on british heifers. I'm sure Jeanne will correct me if I'm wrong
