Cattle Today is ill. While there continues to be a measure of learning and sharing of information, there is an increasing level of commentary that lacks substance. Witness the games that are currently going on, Keep one drop one and Interview the one below. Then there is Greybeard who brings us the daily news. I try not to involve myself in the daily sufferings that occur on this planet. I know it matters not in the grand scheme of the Universe, but I would rather live out my days in ignorant bliss than to have Greybeard remind me daily that everyone on the planet is not Dorothy of Wizard of Oz fame.

In addition to being about cattle, Cattle Today provides entertainment, but entertainment requires a level of substance to be engaging. It is best when uplifting, not depressing. Subjects like one’s personal morality, one’s aches and pains, one’s trials and tribulations, etc. are not that uplifting. Humans are guided by simple rewards: Food, Sex and Money. Other than that, Humans love Drama. That is why one of the most engaging aspects of CT is the Banter. Everyone enjoys a fight. What I am hearing is a very loud cry: that life in general is BORING.

ME TOO DEEPSOUTH!!!!

inyati, everything has a season.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?" ecc 3 "

The season here is for something lighthearted until spring is upon us. GO with The flow ,man!

Maybe is seasonal affective disorder? Spring is right around the corner brother. February comes in this weekend. You'll be making hay, scratching cows, it wont be long.

Inyati, not sure how to interpret what you're saying in the first post. It would perhaps be helpful to submit your commentary in the form of a question. Perhaps not.

I get your drift Inyati but that keep one drop one keeps calling me back. I think it must be some form of mass hypnosis. I have tried today not to look at it but it is calling me. Maybe I will have the most clever response, or maybe there will be something to poke fun at. I'm slipping......

GIVE MAMA SOME SUGGA BIG BOY

Here's the deal. Each of us has the choice to check out what;s going on with the boards. There are a lot of different reasons why people participate. There are still occasionally times when a subject comes up that I can halp with, not very often but occasionally. Sometimes I post just for tomfoolery.
What it boils down to is if you don;t enjoy the forums, don;t check in.

I think I disagree with everything in this post.
But I agree with Dun.

What you may not find uplifting is often very valuable information that can be learned from.
Don't tell me someone forced you to read every post in the keep one drop one thread? I got four pages and have never opened it since.

Regolith:

I do not interpret dun’s comment as being disagreeable. It is a lucid statement that if a USER does not enjoy the forum, then don’t use it. duh!

No, I did not read the Keep one drop one thread. Dun is correct. What we do here is free choice and no one appreciates that more than I do.

My original post is "commentary". The intended point: When the content of the forum reaches a level characterized by some of the threads mentioned, one has to wonder if our lives is "boring". That we would use our precious time on content that is clearly trivia. I am not issuing a judgment on whether it is enjoyable/un-enjoyable, right/wrong, moral/immoral, valuable/invaluable, etc. I acknowledge that participation is an exercise of free will. There is nothing in my original message about my "enjoyment" which is what dun focused on. I took that to mean I was not clear in my original message. Likewise, there is nothing in my original message about relative "value" which is what you focused on. If I made a value judgment, it was not intended.

I agree with dun.

In addition, can't we choose what we view on the forum anyway? I don't even visit a lot of the categories anyway. Sometimes when people are talking about how things are getting a little rude, I don't even know what they're talking about because I haven't visited or focused on those threads.

Although I don't dwell on what doesn't appeal to me, I actually enjoy the "off-topic" sections of any forum. It makes the people seem real. I have visited forums that had no off topic, and they seemed strange. One could never get to know the members other than their ideas on the main topic.

I can't play that Keep One Drop, One game. Seems like the same game was on here once before and went 10,000 pages. I don't get it at all. I don't see attraction. Seems mindless to me. The Interview the One Below game is better but I have some trouble playing because I have all the answers but hardly any questions. Who cares? :lol2:
