Since last sunday we've had 7 1/2 inches of rain and it's still coming. Nice to have rain but not a month and a halfs worth in a week. Particularly after getting none for a couple of months before.
And yes, I would like some cheese with my whine

Whats the old saying? When it rains it Pours. :D

Been doing the same thing here, but dried up creeks, one dry pond and another low. I been staying quiet.

Rain and snow are not a Janitors favorite thing, but water some dumb mules with city water is worse.

I only got 1" total all last week. 2X 2/10's and 1- 6/10's.
But since it started yesterday have gotten 1 inch as off 7:30-8 ish last night. And it has kept up pretty much all night so am finally seeing some run off.
The spring was down to 1/2 gallon a minute (usually flows 8-9 gpm) so I'll take any I can get.

But is it too late for fescue this year? I'm thinking yes, no hay again. :x

It's been running since sunday, everywhere except the springs. The fescue headed out here already so what we'll end up with is very long stemmed poor quality fescue straw with a little leaf thrown in.

Got 3.25" yesterday before I left and another 1" over night. Plus, we put out fertilizer thursday afternoon. I don't think it ever rained hard enough to wash it away.

1.7 inches here since about noon yesterday and still coming down. I'm smiling with every drop. Our native grass can do a lot of growing with that much rain. :) It is supposed to clear out after lunch today.

But I understand where you're coming from. One fall we were very dry. It just had not rained, until the last weekend of October. We had about 10 inches that weekend. Then we had a hard frost the first weekend of November, so the grass didn't get much benefit from the rain. It did fill up our water ponds, though. We started feeding hay early that winter.

man, i'm in the wrong part of the country at the moment. haven't had rain for a couple of months. said we were supposed to get some last weekend, but it went around us. put the pump in the river yesterday and started watering last night. oh boy, another round with wheel lines.

Any preference as to what kind?   I hear ya, though. I really hate it when Mother Nature stores things up and then dumps 2 or 3 months worth all at once. :(

I bitched and moaned about the wet 04 here when I was trying to get the houses, septic, water etc in on our property. Then 05 dried up like a pop corn fart. Ain't never bitchen bout the rain again, EVER.

Hello Dun

Here in SW Missouri been raining since Friday noon. We've had 6.2 inches since then. We've had 3.4 inches all year long up to that so we've had more in the last 3 days than since Jan 1. I'm not complaining, but like you said, I think its too late for the fescue.

I'm crossing my fingers for some good foliage but not too optimistic.

cowgirl580, the weatherman cant find nowhersville on the weather map to send you rain.

We have had 3 inches last evening and this morning. The first we have had in a while. The north pond got so low that I figered it would be a good time to rent a backhoe and clean it out. Got less than 1/2 done when it hit, now it is to muddy to get back in there :( . I am not complaining though, just giving my thanks to the good LORD above for the much needed rian.

I figured thatarea was getting more rain then us since they keep posting flash flood warnings. We ended up at 3.79 for this latest go round. I went out and checked the fields and almost all of the grasses have gone repro so that takes care of the leaf growing stage. Now we'll have to wait till it drys enough to cut and hooe we don;t go back to the 90 plus degree days and we get a little rain after it's cut. Don;t have high hopes for that scenerio though

How's your clover? So far while it won't make up the volume it's looking like it might be alot better than last year.
It's taller than the fescue anyway.
4.2 inchs total as of 8pm last night here.
The pond is up 2-3 ft.

Clover is sparse, looks like the frost seeding didn;t work very well, but the stuff that's growing is pretty robust

Hello DJ

Ditto for down here with the clover, I am not seeing much of it at all. I also frost seeded some and can not find one sprig of it.

The hop clover is heading out all over, more so than the red/white clover. Strange year

No rain here to speak of in more than two months. We are about 7 inches behind normal. Fire alerts in most counties. I had put out fertilizer and over-seeded when they said we going to get two days of rain. It didn't bother to show up. Fortunately we have had heavy enough dew to get some growth in the fields.
