How exactly do embryo donations happen? Is it like semen where its frozen and shipped? Or is it required directly from cow to cow? Is the egg fertalized first or after? Are these generally sucessful? I don't have the cattle to attempt this yet but I would like some basic info on it, for future considerations. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :D

eggs are collected ( flushed ) from the donor cow 7 days after she has been bred. The embryos can then be transferd fresh to a recip cow or frozen for later transfer.

As I understand it, they give the donor some kind of medication that makes her produce a large amount of eggs. Then they AI the heck out of her, and flush the fertilized eggs (embroys) out of her and freeze them. If you are considering having someone do this...it's about $600 before the calf ever hits the ground.
