Fire Sweep Simmentals bought my Elevate Heifer, DOB 9/13/17. Sired by the Genex Bull Elevate. Dam is an Uno Mas Heifer that I raised.

I took the heifer out to Fire Sweep Simmental last week. Kris has put her on a wire halter and is making good progress.

Saturday we bought a Grandmaster cow that is three due to calf in about 30 days to Wheelman. We bought the cow in partnership at the Owen's Brothers Diamonds and Spurs Sale.

Some nice looking animals. Has the 3 year old cow raised a calf yet? From what I can see it looks like she hasn't. She could very well be a diamond in the rough. Use a blazed faced bull on her and y'all should get plenty of chrome.

They look Good. How was the sale? Got the catalog here somewhere, had thought a little about going. Usually would end up going to a few Spring Simmental Sales but haven't this year yet. Dad and Uncles are looking for a couple or a few bred heifers. Right now planning on going to the Good Girls Sale in TN or possibly the Banners & Beyond sale in GA if everything works out.

Thanks.

TG: The Grandmaster cow lost her first calf. Kris knows the breeder and the previous owner. She was sold bred to the previous owner. She lost the calf and they bred her back. She is making an udder so will not be long until we see how she does on the second calf. Considering price, she could be a diamond in the rough. She weighed in at 1700. We gave her long range and turned her out. She is halter broke and handled like a puppy dog.

Mike: prices were low. No grass, no hay, dry out here.

They all look like very easy doers Ron. What is a "wire halter"?

Ken

A halter of fine cable wire. The heifer is a little difficult. The fine cable wire provides a little discomfort. When she becomes easier to handle, you can go back to rope halter.
