Electronic IDs, does your breed require them?

Hereford Ass'n is requiring Allflex EID's in cattle at national shows starting with the KILE in early October of this year.
They will put them in at the show but prefer the cattle come already tagged. To purchase the tags a farm must have a premise ID.

Any other breed doing this?

Simmental haven't yet, but I'm sure when one breed does the rest may follow.

Breed doesn't BUT our state has mandatory RFID, effective March this year on ALL cattle.

I didn't know that. That takes a bit of the sting out of our breed association forcing us into a voluntary program in order to show at a national show. With Ohio right next door to Michigan, I wouldn't be surprised if Ohio follows suit.
