We lost our power from the icestorm on friday night, it just got back on this afternoon. Its been crazy!! Thank goodness we had a generaator to milk with, take showers, etc..

Later I will post some pics, I have never seen this kind of destruction before, Sunday, sat in the carport, just listening to trees fall, every few seconds, it was surreal.

Glad to be back online also, party time tonite after chores!!

heard you guys north of us got hit really bad -
just drive 3 miles south of us and the ice just ends
heard that some people here are being told it could be a month before their power is back on
we were only out at the house for 14 hours Sat/Sun (no heat or water either) (although it flickered about 30 min ago)
luckily the chicken houses have generators but one of those ran about 70 hours
some of the trees here just fell over from the weight
and a few power poles are toppled too

I worked over 30 years for the power company an we had a sayin, ice can tear down more in 5 hours than we can put back up in 3 weeks workin 16 hours a day.
I worked a lot of ice storms in several different states.
Its a good feeling standing in top on a 55 foot pole at 3am. and sayin , let there be light, close the switch an see lights for miles.
Glad your back on.

Curtis I don't know if you have worked in any hurricane areas but a lot of out of state crews came in. I would just like to say that you folks are very much appreciated when you make the lights come back on.

I'm sure the people in this ice and snow weather feel the same.

I do have alot of respect for the linemen who fix the down lines. Went to town on Tuesday, and saw all the destruction, and I am sure they must feel overwhelmed, I know I would if I was doing it.

the power was out here for 7 days in jan of 99.that was the roughest days ever.had to milk with a generator.an work feeding an tending the cows.an on top of that mom had fell an broke her legg a week before.so had to take care of her an work to,everyone was dead after that week.

Here in central Mo, we lost our power on saturday and got it back on tuesday. Trees down all over the place, so no wood shortage next year. We do beef cattle so we didn't need any power for milking. Just heated the house with the wood stove and chopped ice for the cattle. After 4 day tha thot shower felt pretty good. ANd the best part is not hauling the water from the pond and splashing it all over myself.

Saw about 40-50 power trucks headed west from here last weekend. Probably headed your way. Glad things are looking up for you.
