One school system north of here closed. I don't see whay they can't just keep them inside and watch it on NASA channel. That's what our school is doing. I didn't think it was going to be that big of a deal but we were going to get some glasses to look at it Wednesday at a library program. The program started at 1130 and there were people lined up at 9 waiting to get in. We didn't get to see the program. Every Walmart around it out. My wife yesterday to another library that was giving them away and found there were people lined up there also.
 
I remember the last one that came through here in 1970. It was on a Saturday and me and my dad were in the direct path and in a boat fishing for shad on the Ogeechee river near Blitchton, Ga. and caught nothing. As soon as it gets dark it starts getting light again, like a small cloud passing in front of the sun. I didn't have any special glasses and looked at it for a couple of seconds and didn't go blind. I don't think it had an effect on anything.
 
The doves went to roost, the cows went to graze, and the crickets did chirp. Pretty cool watching the Jets and Planes flying around checking it out. Did see a few stars.
 
Takes a lot to impress me, but that was amazing. I see why so many traveled to be in the path. Cows were already out grazing,and never checked up. I heard one moo, and the old rooster crowed one time. All traffic had stopped, and was spooky quiet. The darkness wasn't as dark as I had imagined, but the color leading to it was a weird yellowish green. Came to the house to see it with my wife. Some weird wavy lines/shadow ran across the patio.

Got the real yellowish look here, darkness was about like at the crack of dawn to me. I was in Franklin, traffic and crowds were awful there, I left Portland about an hour after it was over and took an hour and forty fie minutes to drive back to Bowling Green, I 65 was a parking lot going northbound. Traffic on the road that goes by our place, 79 was backed up over 2 miles.

The crowd shocked me. We didn't have many people til today. I wish I knew how many people came in for this. Something about the thing put people in a good mood to.
