Ear Tag Follow-up

Should topical antibiodics or a cleaning agent be applied to the ear before attaching ear tag?

Clean the ear if it is dirty. We generally tag and then spray with iodine. Haven't had any trouble.

Never have put anything on the ear, before or after taggin. Did however one time have a bangs tag that just seemed to not wanna heal. So Cleaned it off with alcohol and sprayed with cut n heal. Was fine after that.

Don't use anything anymore. I used to dip them in Alchohol. Now I always seem to forget. Have not had any problems.

Only time I clean is if I droped the gun in manure. Then I just run it across my leg a time or two and keep going. I keep tags and gun in a big tackle box so they stay halfway clean anyway.
