Received the following email from CCR today:
Dear Loyal Friends & Customers:
It makes me very happy to tell you, after an intense investigation by the USDA and our own staff regarding the transmission of an extremely rare exotic wildlife disease, a hold order has been lifted on all Camp Cooley Ranch cattle that were not in adjacent pastures to the exotic game preserve.
We have spent the last days working closely with the USDA, to protect the interests of the American beef industry as well as our customers’ and our own herds. Because we have such a detailed record-keeping system, we have been able to identify all of the cattle with any possibility of contact with the game preserve. We will continue to work closely with the USDA and TAHC to determine the best course of action for these cattle.
There was no negligence in the care of the exotic animals in the game preserve. The animals in question have been on the ranch for over fifteen years and are under permanent supervision of an experienced vet. We have, however, made the decision to remove all of these animals from the ranch to further safeguard the cattle.
All unaffected cattle are now free of any hold order so we can fulfill our customers’ bull and female needs for the spring breeding season. We look forward to working with you to provide you with the right genetics for your upcoming breeding season and we sincerely appreciate your support and friendship during this difficult time.
