Duflex Applicator Ruining Buttons

Has anyone else had trouble with the pin from a Duflex applicator poking out the side of the button? The pin doesn't appear to be bent and it's a brand new bag of duflex tags and buttons. I have used the applicator quite a bit and never had a problem. The problem has occurred three times in a row now, on a mature bull, a mature cow and a month old calf, so I don't think it is a touch skin issue.

I have had that happen when I used a different needle on the applicator. Check to make sure the tags you have don't need a different type needle on the applicator.

How do you tell. The tags I just bought are the same ones (same color and from same store) that I have always used. Did they change them recently and not tell anyone? Oh. And how many different pins do they make for the Duflex Applicator.
