Dry Diet

well id just keep her on pasture an minerals an salt.an about 2lbs of grain to keep her coming up.dry cows really dont need that much feed.

hes right about the dry cow. They don't need much to keep going. A good grass pasture in the summertime works well for us here in maine. In the winter ours get 1st crop hay a saltblock and tad bit of grain. Some people I think somehow feed selenium and vit E for calving and cleanout but we just treat them at dryoff time with that stuff and they are reall easy to be cared for when dry.
