what is the weather like where you live?

Here it is wet, dreary and about 55 degrees. Lots and lots of mud. The good thing about the rain is that our oats are growing like gang busters.

Dreary here too but no rain or mud. Got all the way upto 25 degrees today wiith a solid cloud bank that makes it look like it should be snowing

Sunny and bright. I'd guess 53 degrees but the sun is so bright you can walk around in a t-shirt.
Usually this time of year we get fog that never really clears up but just gets light enough that you can see for a quarter mile during the day and then it sets back in at night so sun in January is a real treat.

Same as Chippie's weather--minus the mud. Mist and rain all night last night but soaked it or ran off. Be foggy, cold and damp tonight. Not fit for man nor beast.

Rained yesterday and last night on already sloppy ground. Ugly all day today.

Depressing is the best way for me describe------January, February, and the first half of March. I hate mud, and gloomy days. The day is coming when I background calves spring summer and fall, and hang it all up in the dead of winter. I retire in 7 years. A few years after that I should have all my kids through college. I am honestly thinking I might load my LQ trailer new years day every year and head for a warm dry place till garden planting time.

We still have snow on the ground from the Christmas day snow. Not much, but some. Been dreary all week. High temps ain't got above 40, lows in the 20's. Except for some expected sunshine, temps are forecast to be the same for the next week. On a positive note, where the snow has melted is very green and one my ponds/tank has finally started running over the spillway. First time since April.

Good luck with finding that warm dry place. It ain't down south of you for sure--from all the posts above..

Rainy, dreary day here too. Seems like that's the way my days off usually go. Temp got in the upper 40's. Really bad muddy everywhere out there. I know the rain is good to have us ready for spring in a few months, but I'm ready for a day or two of sunshine.

I'm no world travelerer at all. I can't even get away for the family vacation. Where would I find a place like I'm talking about. A little trail riding, and a roping or two on the weekends. Does it exist?

Yep right here. Just make sure you bring your job and some affordable land with you!

Any state parks with hookups and stalls. Maybe a horse boarding barn with rv hookups. It really is something I think about often. Sell my herd, and hay equipment. Surely that would buy 2.5 months of boarding and camping the last few years of my life.

You need to go way further south Greybeard. Today, in central NSW Australia, its 39 Celcius, full sunshine, shimmering heat waves and light hot wind. Lots dust as have hardly any rain for 5 months.

There is in fact a place in Custer State Park in SD just as you describe. They call it "Horse Camp" I have spent most of a week there. Lots of trails and a buffalo herd you can ride to.(BTW don't mess with the buffalo)

SD???
I guess you missed the part where he said he wanted to do this in the early winter when it started getting cold at his home.

No thanks, I already saw plenty of those conditions right here in Texas--and won't have to cross another ocean again to see them in a few months.
