Hello, I was looking for some advice on a down cow. Long story short last sunday the pregnant cow went down and could not get up sunday night, we were able to get some neighbors to help ups stand her with the help of a tractor, the cow walked fine, was eating and generally in good health.
Monday morning, she could again not stand up again, so we lifted her with the tractor. Again, she walked fine, ate fine. and had her calf that evening, standing up.
Tuesday morning, could not stand up again. we lifted her up. walking, eating fine. we called a vet.the vet was not help, not willing to travel to see the cow in person said it was birthing paralysis, prescribed a steroid and antibiotics. Said she should be up in three days.
Wednesday morning, again could not stand up on her own. we had to lift her, otherwise completely fine.
Thursday morning, again could not stand up on her own. we had to lift her, otherwise completely fine.
Friday morning, again could not stand up on her own. we had to lift her, otherwise completely fine.
Saturday morning, again could not stand up on her own. we had to lift her, otherwise completely fine.
Saturday morning (eight days since she went down) still can not stand on her own. i honestly dont know what to do. we again lifted her she having no problems, walking fine, eating well. Now im really worried, the vet said its common but im begging to worry.
has anyone had any experiences? any recommendations? I apologize for being so repetitive but the more information i provide the better advice i get.

Unless you are susing the dairy cow scoring, that poor of a condition would explain a lot of her inability to get up on her own.

I would give her Selenium or Multimin. Could be muscle weakness preventing her from being able to pull herself up. If she can walk fine, it isn't a "post birthing paralysis." Sounds like it is weakness caused by a deficiency or illness.

Duns right. If that's her body score, she would be malnourished!
