I'm not in show business. BUT sometimes at sales of animals that have been show, businesses buy the animals for big, big bucks. They do it to support the kids who have invested their time and money to grow the animal out, haul it around and show it. They also do it for the advertisment. "Jones air conditioning paid $15,000 for the Grand Champion steer at the country fair" as a possible newspaper article headline, for example.

As for someone paying $200,000 for a steer to be grown out and shown, I've never heard of that. But people with big bucks and big egos do some strange things.

In one of the magazines, a steer sold for $60,000. I think most people that pay huge prices for steers would not want that advertised.

Groups of people and businesses in Texas do get together and spend that amount of money on steers. A small % goes to the shower and the rest goes to a scholarship fund of the show or organization. Tax right offs.
