Distal Midpiece and Proximal Droplets

One of our yearling bulls, (15 Month old Simmental/Angus) 37cm measurement, 5 ml sample, good density, fair motility, 90% staining alive. His semen evaluation has 23 Midpeices and 15 Proximal Droplets, plus the odd other count giving him a score of 53. Has anyone had similar evaluations that have improved in time or after breeding a few cows? He is a beautiful bull and I hate to give up on him.

Don't give up on him. Try him again later. A lot of the droplets are just a symptom of some type of stress that a bull experiences. There may be a good chance that after he is out on some good grass with some females to chase around that the droplets will disappear. Talk to the guys running bull collection centers and I think a lot of them will tell you the same thing.
