Dec. corn at noon time dropped below $5. Hasn't been that low since Dec. 2010 till July since the rain keeps falling on the corn belt.

Best part of it all...livestock's are still holding tight, and not falling from the sky like the rest.

Yeah but the basis is $1.39 over the board. Cash price this morning $6.29.
$6.05 for new crop, and $8 for ground corn yesterday when I went to the mill. :cry2:

New crop is only on paper right now. $8 is old crop.

Oh, it will be cheaper when I have some to sell, but when it comes time to buy more corn it will $8 again, isn't that how it works? :lol2:

My theory is to buy high, sell low, and pay the freight both ways but make up the difference in volume.

You related to Sam Walton?

Some recent articles on back grounding did not calculate much of a profit, even though grain price is down.
Seems like you have to buy cattle right +++ and +++ buy feed right to come out.

ill bet feed prices wont come down much. my contract on citrus is the highest its ever been and inm buying the most i ever have. its not corn but its a commodity

Its rediculous what the byproducts are selling for. Everybody should make money, dont get me wrong. If everybody was making money we would all be doing better. Its just completely and totally rediculous what I'm giving for DDG compared to the cash price at the elevator. What would they do with it, if I didn't feed it? The dang ethanol plant is subsidized up to its arm pits. I thought I would get something out of ethanol, (besides my weedeater blown up)

Ddg is exactly 25% higher than the cash price on corn here today. I know they are two different products with different analysis. It just seems backwards to me. Is there another use for this byproduct? If there is, I'm not aware of it.

Bigfoot DDG should be priced against other protein sources such as cottonseed meal, soybean meal, canola etc. to determine IF you're price is a good price. Yes there is much demand for it. Enough that it seldom has a surplus. Crude protein, fat, TDN, and energy levels all fit into the equation. Even tho it is a byproduct it still has great value and is just another way for the ethanol folks to subsidize their own bottom line. All of the more typical protein sources remain very strong so in essence products like DDG simply command a higher price not so much because of supply and demand but more so because they realize the alternative is much higher.

Corn is 4.29 at the local grain elevator Purdue runs around me. Its the only elevator in south jersey so all the guys by me got no other options. Its 4.69 at Cargill in lancaster Pa.

$4.29 a bu. is unheard of around here. Still around $4.60. Will they sell at that price in small amounts?
