What is a fair price to pay for day/week old holstein or beef calves. How much does it cost to raise them until they are off milk replacer?

Around here, in this dairy oriented county, baby holsteins bring any where from $10 (dead man walking) to $200 for bull babies and up to $500 for heifer babies...these are holsteins I'm talking about. This is what they're bringing at the auctions.

Good milk replacer will run around 45-50 a bag, that's wnough to wean one calf. Then another 10 bucks or so in hay and grain.
