Dash Cams

Anyone using them? If so, what are some favorites?

Don't get the kind some of the police depts use. They seem to just arbitrarily turn themselves or their audio off without warning or explanation..the depts are at a complete loss to explain it.

What are some reasons a person would want a dash cam? I want one just to record the crazy things I see on the highway.

in Europe they use them as an Insurance policy from what I have read . It seems like it would be a good Idea to use them here with so many things that we see and a litigious society we live in .

My wife and I have each had an instance where a dash cam may have helped us. I was hit and run by a teeneger but luckily they found her, too bad she had no insurance. And my wife was hit by a guy going to work that crossed over into her lane. Cop said he couldn't determine fault so we were left to fix our car out of pocket.

I did some shopping and if I remember a good one can be had for around 100, some record forward and back. Wife keeps saying we should get one and after writing this its making me feel like it more.

The liability issue is my primary thought, but it can also work against you if you are in the wrong. If I catch something stupid going on then that's an added plus.
